Moshe Feiglin again entered Masjid Al-Aqsa, despite calls for “restraint” by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Fieglin is a member of Netanyahu’s Likud bloc, is a leading advocate of Jewish access to the compound. One the same day, right-wing housing minister Unri Ariel calls for a change to the status quo at the compound by allowing Jews not only to visit the site but to pray there.
Israel closed Masjid Al-Aqsa for the first time since 1967. Israeli authorities close Masjid Al-Aqsa after shooting of Yehuda Glick, who advocates for forced entry into the mosque. Clashes erupt between Israeli security forces and Palestinian youth in East Jerusalem a day after the shooting. This is the first time the mosque is closed since 1967, when Israel occupied East Jerusalem. Israel’s public security minister says the mosque will remain closed until further notice, triggering an angry reaction from Abbas, who calls the move “a declaration of war”. Glick, an American-born fanatic, is the chairman of the Temple Mount Heritage Fund.

The Israeli
occupation forces prohibited women and children from entering Masjid Al-Aqsa
and attacked them. The forces arrested one woman and one child.
Israel imposes restrictions on Al-Aqsa. Israeli police deploy in large numbers around Jerusalem early on Friday as restrictions are imposed on Palestinian worshippers entering Masjid Al-Aqsa compound.
Israel to rebuild synagogue near Al-Aqsa site. Plans are announced for
an Israeli state-funded project to rebuild the Tiferet Yisrael (Splendor of
Israel) synagogue. The Arab Legion destroyed it in 1984 because the Haganah,
the pre-state Jewish militia, was using it as a hideout; earlier this year, the
Knesset allocated 50 million shekels ($13.4m) for reconstruction.
Worshippers under 50 were banned enter Al-Aqsa. Israeli police in the old city restricted entry into Masjid Al-Aqsa to worshippers under the age of 50, with the exception of students who study in the compound. At the same time, police allow a Jewish group to tour the compound.

Israeli
security forces stormed Al-Aqsa through Al-Silsila Gate. They besieged the
worshippers and attacked protestors with sound bombs and rubber bullets. The
same happened on 16 April of this year, as the occupation forces stormed
Al-Aqsa’s courtyards, firing sound bombs, smoke bombs and tear gas canisters at
worshippers, resulting in the injury of 25 Muslims.
